Samon Series Tube Fly Pink/Pearl
Pink is a standard color for anglers fishing off the west coast of Vancouver Island BC. In waters from the Puget Sound up through south east Alaska it is a “Go To” color for silver (coho) salmon.
Each of these tube flies comes with a 3/0 VMC Red Octopus hook and a “Wiggle Fin Action Disc”. You can easily change hook size or style to fit local regulations or the angler’s preference. These are durable flies that replace messy bait on your boat. These flies are weighted to ride belly down and back up right when trolled. They will also sink when cast with a fly rod.
Additional Info
My Salmon Series Tube Flies are tied with synthetic hair for durability and to get the length needed to imitate ocean bait fish. These flies have caught lingcod, rockfish, stripers and halibut. Any fish that eats smaller fish will take a good look at these.
Tube flies can be fished with any hook configuration, singles, tandems, trebles or……… When the fish is hooked and pulls away from you the fly can slide up the line where the fish can’t chew on it. Tubes lend themselves to short shank hooks that fish have a more difficult time throwing.
Most salmon anglers fish them behind flashers with heavy gear. I prefer to fish them behind a “Wiggle Fin Action Disc” on light tackle. If a flasher is needed I attach it to the downrigger ball.
