PURPLE/PINK Tandem
Purple/Pink Arctic Fox #2 Trolling Fly was added to my offering at the request of Northern Idaho anglers fishing Lakes Couer D Alene and Pend Orielle. It has also been popular with Great Lakes anglers. It is suggestive of rainbow trout and kokanee as forage fish in deep water environments. Purple is one of the last colors filtered out when fished deep on down-riggers.

This pattern was produced in response to angler demand in Northern Idaho. This Purple/Pink color scheme is popular on Lakes Pend Oreille and Coeur D Alene for both salmon and kamloops rainbows. The purple and UV pink are good colors for fishing at depth where they show up better than other options. This pattern is also a decent representation of kokanee or rainbows as a bait fish.
The arctic fox fur is softer and finer than other streamer fly materials commonly used for trolling flies. This results in the movement of marabou (feathers} but the tensile strength of fur. Compare the movement of this fly to buck tail or other materials. These tandem flies are sold with a Wiggle Fin Action Disc. The movement the disc puts on the fly allows the fly to be fished at depth with a down rigger and still have it swim well.
