Vampire Leech Trolling Flies (purchase)

Gray Variant, Vampire Leech Trolling Fly #4 ($5.49/pair)

$5.49

Gray Vampire Trolling Leech: a famous fly angler was once asked what color fly was best. He answered that the fly will be the color of the bottom. They are generally camouflaged to blend into the environment where they live. This leech has gray fur with natural salt & pepper highlights. This creates a mottled/natural appearance. It blends in with a gray rock and gravel background, but the movement gives it away to hunting fish.

When trolling this fly behind an “Action Disc”, fix the disc up the line. The disc close to the fly hook will lift the hair out, the disc up the line will wiggle the fly but the laminar flow has a more natural leech look. I am not saying to never fish the disc on the hook, you should try it. I think the streamlined look is more realistic.

I also like to slide a 1/32 ounce bullet head weight on the line above the fly. Using a pull - pause retrieve at slow speed the fly will swim with a realistic snake like, head dipping action.

Additional Info

When I saw this color, which I had ordered for Zonker streamers, I had to have a few tied up as Vampire Leeches. The individual fur fibers have white tips with black accents. This is a natural undyed hide so the leather remains an off-white color. If this color is popular, I will continue to stock it on my website. It would be a top choice to fish in granite lined lakes with little weed growth.
